It's been a great week. Do you want to know why? I will tell you whether you want to know or not.
We were able to teach 20 lessons last week! It was made possible through the less active teaching pool we've recently been given through the wards finding efforts. I really enjoy working with less active members because we can be a lot more flexible with the things we teach. And they always love the Elders. One of them is an RM who hasn't been to church in like 28 years cause he's being a dough head and he knows it. He told us that really the only thing stopping him is the fact that he is lazy. We will get him to go though. We have been reteaching him the missionary lessons and his eyes have watered up every lesson so far. We know he is feeling the Spirit and hopefully that will be enough for him to change. Anyway, we are expecting some great miracles from teaching 20 lessons. Last time we did that that we had 8 new investigators the following week.
We had something called a Fill the Font Night yesterday. We didn't have anyway to be baptized, but the ward held a baptismal service anyway to get people motivated and excited. I thought it was kind of a strange idea, but it was very spiritual and I'm really glad they did it. Plus, a girl came who will probably be baptized now. She wanted to in the past, but her parents wouldn't let her and now she is 18. She's been through all the discussions twice and everything.
Our investigator, Neil, came to church yesterday! We were so excited to see him there. That is the first Sunday this transfer that we've been able to get an investigator to church. He loved the service and made tons of friends. The ward fellowshipped the heck out of him and now he will be attending a bunch of different activities this week. Starting with a Family Home Evening in a members house tonight. This ward is pretty good at fellowshipping. Except the Elders Quorum were a little bit confused on how to handle having an investigator in their class. Haha cause they haven't had Elders in his ward in years, so most of the investigators that have been to church in the past have been women that the Sister Missionaries teach.
We have been teaching all the members how to do indexing on familysearch.org and it's going really well. People are always surprised at how easy it is and fast it is. Bishop is super excited that everyone is learning because he want's everyone in the ward to be indexing at least 1 name every day. This Bishop is so great. It was rememberance day yesterday and it's really hard for Bishop Moffett. His wife died about 6 years ago from cancer and then about 2 years after that, his son was killed in Afghanistan. He's a very tough man, but at the same time extremely kind and gentle. We all have a lot of respect for him and the way that he has dealt with the opposition in his life. He's come out the other end of the fire as a spiritual giant.
Saturday morning football will be commencing this Saturday! And by football of course I really mean soccer. Everyone is excited and we think it will really help less active members and investigators develop friendships with the active members. Then, they will return to activity or be baptized. It's a win win! We've been trying to get this going for a long time so we are pretty pumped. We are also going to start teaching English Class every Thursday. Bishop Moffett wants us to do absolutely everything possible to have people in the church building.
Well, I don't have my planner sadly. Or I would tell you some funny story or something. Don't have a lot of time to think because we are going on some cool secret tour with a member today. The one who was wearing a kilt in that picture I sent when I first got here. Ned.
